Crystal Sanders

Owner, President, Nursery Manager

Crystal Sanders is the President of James Sanders Nursery and as such leads marketing, finances, and business development. She is a business graduate of Murray State University and has over ten years of experience in horticulture, landscape implementation, and project management. As nursery manager, she coordinates retail operations, including material orders and organization. She enjoys being outside, overseeing the growing process, and experimenting with new plant combinations.

Crystal regularly appears on the local television network’s live noon broadcast- answering viewers gardening questions. In addition to assisting customers in the garden center, her passion for promoting gardener education has lead her to speak frequently to interested community groups including garden clubs, turf associations, school children, and local conferences.

Carol Sanders

Owner, Secretary/Treasurer

For over 30 years, Carol Sanders has provided a familiar and welcoming smile to customers as they enter the garden center- assisting them with their questions and sharing a few laughs. Many of the employees know her as Mama Carol, enjoying her home cooked lunches and motherly advice. Carol plays a versatile role assisting with client relations, book keeping, and day to day operations. She oversees business development and finances.

Dan Bell

Landscape Designer & Estimator, Horticulturist

Dan Bell takes the lead in coordinating large scale landscape contracting estimates and conducting landscape appraisals. At James Sanders Nursery, Dan combines his artistic talent and horticulture expertise to create landscapes for residential, commercial, and institutional projects. As a certified nurseryman and with over 30 years of experience in the landscape industry, he is also adept at plant pathology and excels at identifying plant material and insect/disease related issues. Dan has furthered his education with coursework from Murray State University, Paducah Community College, and Western Kentucky Tech. Outside of the Nursery; you will often find Dan pursuing his musical passions.

Larry Sanders

Landscape & Horticulture Consultant

After completion of active duty military obligation, and studying Horticulture for two years at Murray State University, Larry Sanders began full time employment at James Sanders Nursery in the fall of 1970. Larry spent five years focused on landscape design and project management before becoming general manager of the full nursery and implement business. In 1985 he purchased the company from his father, James Sanders Sr. Through the years leading and expanding the company, Larry has been an active member in community groups and has helped promote the green industry at the local, state, and national level. For his efforts, he was inducted into the prestigious Kentucky Honorary Hall of Fame.

Kelly Sanders-Dye, ASLA, AICP

Landscape Architect & Planner

Kelly Sanders-Dye joined James Sanders Nursery in the Spring of 2010.  She is a registered Landscape Architect and Certified Planner.  Kelly is a graduate of the University of Kentucky Landscape Architecture program and previously worked for a private Landscape Architecture firm in Atlanta, GA as a Senior Associate and Community Planning Department head. Kelly’s experience has afforded her the opportunity to work on a variety of project types, ranging from residential landscape design to comprehensive community land use and greenspace planning.  As a Landscape Architect and Planner, she strives to integrate and evolve skills in community and resource-based planning and design to create livable, functional, economically viable, and sustainable places.

Specifically, Kelly has completed projects that are innovative, tangible, and award-winning, often incorporating a community and/or resource-based planning process (involving visioning, site sensitivity analysis, local and regional code review, community facilitation and education, concept development, and implementation strategies). At James Sanders Nursery, Kelly leads design and planning projects ranging from large area conceptual master/site plans to smaller scale intricate outdoor spaces.

David Crowe

Installation Crew Leader

David Crowe supervises a work crew for large scale commercial, residential, and state projects. David served in the United States Marine Corp 0311 infantry in Desert Storm and at James Sanders Nursery has been a strong leader for over 18 years, directing his team on irrigation, fencing, grading and drainage, and erosion control (hydro-seeding, mulching, blankets) implementation. He is an integral team member in solving and ensuring quality solutions for our clients.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Robert Northington

Installation and Maintenance Crew Leader

Robert Northington has over 10 years of experience in the landscape industry and leads a work crew for institutional, commercial, and residential projects. Robert takes pride in ensuring clients are happy with the final landscape and in teaching less experienced team members proper landscape installation and maintenance techniques. He is adept at handling large caliper plant material, implementing landscape designs, and coordinating solutions in the field. He has his KY Department of AG Pesticide Applicator License.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alberto Cruz-Salinas

Installation Crew Leader

Alberto leads a work crew to implement institutional, commercial, and residential landscapes. He has over 8 years of experience in landscape installation and maintenance. Alberto is detail oriented and excels at hardscape installation and finessing designs in the field to ensure harmonious and functional landscapes.
